Stocks with catalysts this week
Catalyst: A fancy word for a date that could shake up the price of a stock: earnings, generally, but other examples include an FDA decision or inclusion of the company in a market index. The shocker is generally delivered either that night or the following morning at 9:30.
The traders who take options bets actually give a pretty good indication of the size of move they're anticipating, since it's implied in the price they're willing to pay. Then Skew takes that figure, compares it to the stock's recent moves and compresses the whole thing into a score from 0 to 100. Higher means bigger and cleaner.
Direction? Yes, Skew picks one, Long or Short, based on some cues. Usually, it is a slight one. The card will admit it if it is one, which I like more than pretending.
What shows up this week
The dates get scraped off public calendars, making it heavily earnings-driven. The individual card will contain the grade, the expected move, whether the stock came limping or strutting to that particular date, and Skew's side.
